Kathy + Andrew: An Oceanfront Beach Wedding + Signature at the West Neck

2015 Kathy & Andrew got married on a beautiful day! The Oceanfront was perfect without too many people and the golden sun. After the ceremony on the beach, Kathy wanted to surprise Andrew, so we walked (yes, we did) towards the closest 7 11 for some Slurpees. Nothing says go wild and have fun like walking oceanfront in yellow heels. She wore them, not me. We then went to the party at one of my favorite venues, The Signature at West Neck. The sun & day could have not been more perfect. Ceremony: Beach Front of Sheraton Venue: The Signature at West Neck Dress: Allure bridal by Global Bridal Gallery …

Kayla + Julian: A Downtown Norfolk Session

2015 These two are a ball of awesomeness. Between being silly, romantic, jokers, down to earth, they are truly great together. We started our session at Padoga, followed by Freemason’s great roads and back to see the last light by Padoga. I had a great time with them and you’ll get to see them again next month as we go party at their wedding celebration.

Narketta + Ricky: Olde Towne Portsmouth Engagement Session

2014 Narketta and Ricky met online and are quite perfect for each other. They enjoy similar things and are very down to earth. Besides enjoying some coffee and romantic sunset viewing together, they also love to laugh (noticed?) and joke around. It was interesting trying to get Narketta serious on any of these pictures but when you are in love, best to let the heart follow. They decided to do their Engagement session at Olde Towne Portsmouth for its beautiful streets and urban feel. A place that truly matches them. We met on a cold morning. Love Narketta’s coat. I am completely honored that Narketta loves her images so much,…

Lindley + Jacques: Downtown Norfolk Engagement

2014 I love seeing Lindley and Jacques smile. I do, I do! They are super fun and well, “hello gorgeous legs”! (Sorry Jacques, you were wearing jeans so  I can’t comment on that). This was a very cloudy day. No sun to be found anywhere, yet the colors were so rich, beautiful and romantic.  The rain was following us and I was so in the moment that didn’t realize it rained in the last couple of images until I had shot the last one. Then it poured! Sadly I was already in my car but I secretly wished I would have stayed a little longer. Lindley and Jacques got wet…

Norfolk Homecoming | Scarlett & Dino

2014 Ok, I like cold but this was outrageous! There were donuts, there was coffee but still not enough! Documenting my first homecoming was a delight though.  As I witness something I had witnessed as a Navy Wife many times over, it felt new. This time it was different, I was behind the lens and going through the roller coaster of emotions. You are excited, nervous, cold or tired. All of that is gone when you spot your love on the boat (or ship depending on who you are asking!). Dino had forgotten I was there to document it as he sneaked behind everybody to surprise Scarlett. I was able…

Hannah + Daniel: Olde Town Portsmouth Engagement

2014 Hannah & Daniel are super fun. They enjoy laughing and just being goofy. They have a long-distance relationship for now so Hannah came this weekend to see her love and surprise him with an engagement session. Now, most men would be all “I don’t want to do this!” but Daniel was all for it. With the light almost gone we decided to try some night shots. I loved the last image in this set. It is romantic and true. It shows exactly how dark it was and how bright that sunset was. I took a couple without the cars coming but I always think a city image is not…

Alecia + Codie: A The Attic Waterman’s Wedding in Virginia Beach

2014 Alecia & Codie finally got to celebrate! With a beautiful ceremony at their Church and a great party at Waterman’s Grille in Virginia Beach, they exchanged their vows and promised to care and raise their son together. Alecia’s dress surprised me. Its beautiful lace was stunning! Codie looked sharp. They had scheduled a great time to do their couple’s portraits and all I can say is “wow!”. The last image of this blog post is definitely my favorite. Night dust never looked so good. Norfolk Botanical Garden Engagement Session | Alie + Dan

Norfolk Botanical Garden Engagement 2014 This Norfolk Botanical Garden Engagement Session was a dream. I love when couples decide to have their engagement session in a place that is true to their hearts and their journey. Oh, how I loved these two and their love story. Beautiful people in a beautiful setting. The weather was perfect and their spontaneous love for each other was evident every time I clicked my shutter. Alie and Dan met online.  Sometimes we look in our circle for that special someone when stepping out of it makes us actually meet them. They are perfect for each other. He loves her smile (and she does have…

Norfolk Botanical Garden Wedding | Kimberly + Brett

2014 Kimberly and Brett’s Norfolk Botanical Garden Wedding was absolutely beautiful. It was HOT but then again so is them. Brett is a gentleman and when he interacts with Kimberly. It is like watching two lovers from the 50s. Polite, sweet and old-fashioned love. When I asked Kimberly how they would describe themselves as a couple, she wrote, “Loving, caring, fun, & respectful”. I couldn’t agree more. You could see their love and care as they walked together.  They are also quite creative as their centerpieces were DIY. Kim’s grandmother’s 80 years birthday was the same day so of course, they surprised her with her own cake and everybody sang…

Cynthia + Renato: Engaged: First Landing Park Engagement Photographer

2014 Boy am I behind this week! I have been blessed for sure. A lot of work between weddings, engagement sessions, maternity sessions, and baby sessions! It’s been interesting trying to find the balance between making it work and not going insane. However, how could I become insane with all these clients’ awesomeness? Here I present to you, Cynthia and Renato. They are having a Texas Wedding next year close to their families and friends. Cynthia brought a lot of props! All worthy of some of Pinterest’s crazy pinning. They are fun and cute together. He’s a pilot, she is a cutie (sorry Renato, you are a cutie too). Together…

Megan + Jeff: Engaged! | First Landing State Park Engagement

2014 There are some sessions when everything is perfect. The lighting, the view, crowd, and weather simply works for us. The day Megan & Jeff were finally able to have their engagement sessions after two reschedules thanks to the rainy days, was indeed perfect. Megan & Jeff went to the boat ramp first thinking that’s where I was waiting for them, which worked great because I’ve been wanting to do a couple’s or maternity sessions there for a long time. I was so happy when they agreed to stop by there for some Wedding timeline talk and a couple of quiet shots. We started in First Landing State Park for…

Susan + Rocky: Downtown Norfolk Engagement Session Photographer

2014 Susan and Rocky decided to have two elements in their engagement session. We went for the Urban edge starting in Downtown Norfolk and then for the Nature side in Red Wing Park. I had not met them before so when I saw them waiting for me on the other side of Monticello Arcade, I was like, “Oh yes!”. Susan and Rocky have a great sense of style (according to Rocky, Susan is the cause of him to be like this). They looked wonderful, and well, did you see Susan’s legs?! Yes, I know you noticed. It was so great to work with them and allow them to just “be…

MaKella + Josh | Downtown Norfolk Engagement Photographer

Downtown Norfolk Engagement MaKella + Josh 2014 Beautiful background? Check. Beautiful people? Double Check. So far I have not photographed not even one “unbeautiful” person (It is a word even when my spellchecker says otherwise!). Every one of my clients, friends, and people I have come in contact with this business is easy on the eyes. Like I’ve said before, I am a magnet for beauty. MaKella and Josh are no different.  I don’t know if it’s the happiness within them, their choice of attire (which rocks by the way) or that good genes run in the family, but they photograph amazingly! They are also super sweet and funny and…

Meegan + David | Old Towne Portsmouth

Old Towne Portsmouth Meegan + David 2014 I’ve been wanting to shoot at Old Towne Portsmouth for a long time and I was so happy when Meegan and David chose that location for their Newlywed’s session.  I got lost getting there from Chesapeake, realized all of a sudden that I needed  Toll money so I  drove back to Downtown Norfolk to get cash. I had to skip lunch because of it but was ready to pay the toll when I realized that it hasn’t started yet arriving 10 minutes late to our session. Yet, they were so cool about it and laughed at my silly story. Now, you did notice…
